The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) is a global coalition dedicated to addressing the urgent challenges climate change poses in vulnerable communities. Comprised of researchers, funders, policymakers, development organizations, and community-based groups, ARA is committed to conducting research that leads to climate-resilient futures.

Mission: ARA’s mission is to expedite and expand investments in action-oriented research that targets the critical knowledge gaps for adaptation and the resilience of vulnerable communities. We bolster research capacity at every stage, from study to implementation, to enhance the links between research and action, and to encourage global learning.

In response to the profound impacts of climate change on ecosystems and livelihoods, ARA was launched at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26). This coalition actively advocates for research that is user-centered, co-created with local experts, and conducted with equity in mind.

ARA fosters a global research community deeply engaged with governments, communities, and frontline groups confronting the challenges of climate change. By emphasizing the pivotal role of research in shaping effective adaptation strategies at the local, national, and global levels, we work tirelessly to mitigate the risks associated with climate change.

The Adaptation Research Alliance is a consortium of research institutions committed to finding innovative solutions for climate change adaptation. Our collaboration with them helps us better understand and address the impacts of climate change.

About Us

CESR is an international non-governmental organization committed to a world where dignity is not a privilege but a universal right. Our core mission is to harness the power of human rights to inspire fairer and more sustainable economies, ultimately transforming the prevailing economic system.

What We Do

Our work centers on improving the lives of individuals impacted by the global unequal distribution of resources and power. Using innovative research rooted in the real experiences of diverse communities, we construct compelling evidence that unravels the economic structures infringing on people’s rights. We establish partnerships to advocate for systemic changes and engage in policy reform.
